"Christmas," Jaime
Let me tell you what tradition we do at Christmas and it goes like this… Every Christmas we make delicious tamales. We would get the ingredients for the tamales. My family will go and buy the frozen chicken and the dry leaves at the store. I say, “Where are we going to get the squishy and cold masa?” “We are going to get the squishy masa across El Super,” my mom replied. After we get the spicy chile and the cold masa and we went home.
When we make the tamales we put the spicy chile in the blender and mix it. While we mix the spicy chile we would wash the leaves. Then, I help my mom put the squishy masa on the leaves and I said, “It feels weird!” Then I would put the greasy chicken pieces with chilen on the masa. After, we put the tamales that are prepared in a big and steamy pot and cover the pot and wait over at home. Finally, I’ll say, “the tamales are ready.” So everyone would go to the table at the dining room. After, we have set up the table we start to eat the delicious tamales. Everyone would say, “the tamales are great.”
I went to the living room after I ate and talk to my dad and say, “Who got the tradition from their parents.” “Your mom got the tradition from your grandmother,” he replied. Then I would go to my mom at the kitchen to ask her a question. “How did you learn how to do tamles?” I said. “I learn by watching my mom make tamales at Mexico,” she said. When I looked at the clock it was 11:00 p.m.. So I went to sleep so the next morning I can play with the new toys I got for Christmas.
