Why "rocky?"

Over the last month I've gotten quite a few inquiries about my blogs. The main question revolves around whether or not I am "rocky" from this site, npera1 from BlogHeads, and npera2 from blahblahblog. The answer is a resounding yes.

Next question: why use the name "rocky?" Well, when I started this site my intention was to create a family blog site and I didn't want to mix my professional and personal worlds. But, I found Tabulas such a great feature packed site for teachers, that I tried putting some teacher work on it and BINGO it was a hit! The talent behind Tabulas is working on a photo blog project called Tokki Project, so I'm waiting to see what that will offer, and am learning HTML, 'cuz I want something really creative for the personal pics. I've got pics dating back to early 20th century Cuba, and video of 1930-1950's Cuba that I'd like to share.

Why the name "rocky?" Well, I have known my fiance Steven since elementary school. We met in 2nd grade, and went 2nd-12th grade together. Afterschool, (3rd or 4th gr.) I used to throw rocks at him and he used to yell at me, "Go away stupid girl!" Awwww...kismet, you say? Well, you know what they say about elementary school kids--when boys and girls fight (boys pulling pigtails and girls protesting too much), it must be love. We didn't know it was love (we both thought it was "yuck") until 5 years ago, when I gave him one of my prized possessions for Christmas--a hand painted mandala rock--one of the first things I bought as a college student at University of California, Santa Barbara. I had treasured it for 10 years and I figured it was a good way to clear up some of my bad rock throwing karma. Voila, something clicked (and I didn't even throw the rock that time--go figure!) Perhaps, somewhere deep inside, I knew I'd reach him with a rock...thus, rocky was born. And the rest, as they say, is history!

Okay, there is something screwy going on. For some reason, the posts titled, "Busted Nancy," "Relaxing," "I'm Here," "Harrison," "Reading," and "joining" posted strangely. Notice that there is no username to the left AND if you click on "Add a Comment" you are taken to the main tabulas site and cannot comment. Well, it just means that I have to work out the bugs. But, continue to post (anything, everything) and I'll work out the kinks.

I think today was fun and I THANK you all for participating, even though it was afterschool - and some people even had to go to class after our workshop! You're a great group and I look forward to our group blogging.

Well, since these two posts don't let me "Comment", I'll respond here to a couple:
"Busted Nancy:"--I didn't do it, you can't prove it, huh?, I don't know who did, and, finally, who me? ; )

"Relaxing:"--It's SECRET Santa not "publicize who my secret santa is so I can get the upper hand" Santa! ; )

"Boycott:"--That's in response to the Gov's repeal of the driver's license for non-legal's, and it falls on the date of Guadalupe (Santo?)correct?
